10 Weeks Young

Boomer is now 10 weeks young. He is growing before our eyes. When we brought him home he was 15.2 lbs, 29 inches long - nose to tail and 11 inches tall at the shoulders.  At his vet visit this week he weighed in at 19.9 lbs and is still 29 inches long, but now 14 inches tall.

He met his first non-Berner dog today, a fun little dog, Dexter, and did excellent in his greeting. He spent 1/2 day in my office and greeted all my coworkers and did some sleeping.

Our little boy is growing up and we have only had him for 2 weeks. More to come with photos.

Day 5 - Sleeping through the Night

Last night Boomer slept a full 6 hours from midnight to 6am in his crate. He seems to be growing every minute.  He met Sharon's coworkers at Chabot Space & Science Center yesterday and did very well. He also met some of the teenagers from our neighborhood. Working on his socialization. He is such a sweet and loving boy. He is also quite a clown and loves to play.

The Eagle has landed

On May 14, 2011, Beauregard "Boomer" Fletcher chose Craig and I to live with. It was neck and neck between he and his brother who wore a blue collar. But in the end, after much discussion and observation, this little guy was the one.

He passed his first physical with flying colors. He is 15.2 pounds, 29 inches long and 11 inches tall (at the shoulder). He is 8 weeks old.   His birthday is March 18, 2011.

Side note

Boomer will have a feline sibling this summer. This is a photo of that litter at 6 weeks. We are hoping to bring home Dewey, our red tabby in late June/early July.

8 Weeks

The most recent photos of the group before they all part ways and head to their respective homes this Saturday. They have changed alot since I saw them 2 weeks ago. They are much bigger and, dare I say, even better looking. A good looking bunch to be sure. Can't wait to meet you Boomer Fletcher!

The Countdown

In a few days we will get to pick our boy and bring him home. Excited does not even cover it. I have a few more pics to share. The pups are 6 weeks in this one. Also have a nice shot of their Dad, Rogue who is extremely handsome and super sweet boy.

Anticipating the Baby

This blog is intended to chronicle the escapades & adventures of the newest Fletcher. We plan to call him Beauregard "Boomer" Fletcher.

On Friday, April 29, 2011, I met the litter of puppies - ten in all - 3 females and a whopping 7 males. It seems, from my estimation, that the opposite male to female ratio is most common. Since we are wanting a boy, we are in luck.

The pups were 6 weeks at this point. What a fun group. All are beautiful. I met the parents too, Rogue (sire) and Charmante (dam). Both are sweet and funny. Awesome dogs.  At least 3-5 of these puppies could be Boomer. I know that a puppy really "chooses" you. So I look forward to finding out who will chose us to be his parents. The breeder tells us that within the next 2 weeks the pups will change alot. I can't wait to see them again. I think about them everyday.

Boomer will be our second Bernese Mountain Dog. We anticipate his arrival to our home on May 14th with much happiness and joy.

My camera did not work during my visit, so I dont have the photos I tried to take. I do have the photos though that the breeder sent along. The pups are 4 weeks old in these photos. I met this one with the freckles on the nose - super sweet and very insistent about wanting to lay next to my side with his head on my thigh looking up at me. Two others also were insistent about sitting on my lap or curling up in my lap. I got lots of kisses. Is there anything better than "puppy breath?"
